We live in a very small house (780 sq ft plus a basement) so this is a very big thing. My oldest son has his own room downstairs but the 3 little ones were sharing one room (~9 x 9) upstairs. Downstairs my scrap stuff was at one end and their play room took up the rest.
As soon as Lee made the suggestion I went out and bought paint and started redecorating the basement so that we could move their beds down. Once that was done I started painting the bright orange bedroom upstairs a nice bright green (yes I like my colour (: )
As soon as Lee made the suggestion I went out and bought paint and started redecorating the basement so that we could move their beds down. Once that was done I started painting the bright orange bedroom upstairs a nice bright green (yes I like my colour (: )
I found out after they had mixed the paint, the bright green is a translucent colour. I ended up doing 2 coats of grey primer (to seal in the orange and use as the base I needed for the green) and then I ended up doing 5 coats of the green!! The WHOLE can!!!!! You can imagine how sick of painting I was ):
Here are a couple of pics of the room after a few of coats.
Once I was done painting we ripped the carpet out, only to discover very old floor boards underneath ): So yesterday, Lee and I picked up some plywood and put it down.
Then today day my Dad gave up his Sunday afternoon to come and help us put in the tile for the floor. It was leftovers they had from when they did their house.
So this is where we're at right now. I have cupboards, that Lee's boss gave him when they redid their kitchen, that are going to go in on the window side of the room. I also lucked out and found a really good used counter top on Kijiji (gotta love it!!) I'm just trying to figure out what to do with the hole from the sink (which would end up under the window)
I will post more pics as the work continues. I really hope to move in by next weekend!!!
I wish I would have got a pic before we moved the kids out just so you could see the true difference!!
SO this is my excuse for not having new artwork to share with you (: Hopefully I will have some in a week or so (:
Jenn, the room looks great so far!! How exciting - it's great to have your own space to work in! Can't wait to see the whole thing finished!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you, and I think you'll find the colour inspiring! As for the sink hole (no pun intended) you could always put in a piece of tempered glass, use it as a work surface for cutting with a blade - those Martha Stewart circle cutters work best on glass; for heat gun work - glass doesn't melt; and you can see if anybody is trying to sneak under your "desk"!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT fun colour!!! How exciting you get your own scrapbooking room!! Hooray!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, you have the best hubby! Love the colour...is there room for another to scrap in there? With a scrap room, you just might get out-of-town scrappy visitors! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome, Jenn! If anyone deserves a great space, it's you!!! Can't wait to see the finished room!

How exciting Jenn!! I can't wait to see pics of the finished room. :) I must admit, I'm a tad jealous...I'm still a dining room table crafter! Someday I do hope to claim a little space for my own. Have a wonderful time putting the finishing touches on your crafty space!
