Altered Paper is...

our Challenge #5 at Use It or Lose It this week!! Find a piece of paper you haven't used, cause you just don't like it the way it is, and change it up so you do like it (: You can stamp, emboss (dry or heat), paint, distress....
My fellow DT members have come up with some gorgeous cards and layouts so be sure to head on over and check them out.

For my layout I took a piece of CTMH patterned paper from an old paper pack that looked like this

I stamped the whole page with the flower background stamp from Diverse Backgrounds in versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then used my Tattered Rose distress ink to give it some colour. This is what it looked like before anything was added to it.

I ended up having to glue it to a piece of cardstock to keep it lying a little more flat.

I scrapped another pic from Azelyn's first birthday. (It's hard to believe she will be 5 on Sunday!!) I glimmer misted the cs mats and the flowers. I painted chipboard letters (from my stash, non CTMH) with white and then Pearl paint. I then stamped on them with the same flower bg stamp. All other products are CTMH except for the butterflies. I used my SU embosslit and MME paper scraps.

I was pretty happy with the way my paper turned out, but when I showed my hubby my finished layout, he said "it's nice but I'm not crazy about that paper you used for the background"  ): Go figure!!

Anyway, here it is. Not a tonne of scraps on it (cs mats and butterflies) but I did use up a lot of things that have been sitting around for a bit!!

 Here's a close up of a section

Well I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend!!! We have a couple of family meals and a few Egg Hunts on the schedule, not to mention baby Girl's birthday!!!

I hope you have a chance to join us this week for our Altered Paper Challenge!!

  1. Well, I like the paper you used for the background....men! You did a great job altering it and I love this challenge because it makes you look at those papers that wouldn't be your first choice in a whole new light.

  3. I quite like the background paper and the matching letters - the page itself is gorgeous in its simplicity and elegance -- hard to appreciate all the work that went into it! And, what does that Lee know anyway?!? Great job Jenn.

  4. Tell that Lee that he has no taste in background paper, haha! He and jason would make a great pair! I love it, and I love the whole concept (very similar to what I just posted) of creating a resist and inking over it - beautiful! The alphas look fabulous, too!!! Oh my gosh, look at those cheeks! Love 'em!!! Anyway, enough gushing, get this over to my new challenge at Creative Accents challenges, it will totally work! Hugs, Roxy.
